over 12,000 locations. That number was increased by over 5,000
in 2003! Day Spas accounting for 73% of all spa locations with 8,700.

Spa Visits
There were nearly 136 million spa visits in the U.S. in 2003.
Day spas had 68% of these visits. Resort/ hotel and club
spas received the next largest number.

Spa Revenue
Spas have now become the 4th largest leisure industry.
In 2003 Spa Revenues for the United States spa industry
were 11.1 billion: revenues in 2001 were 10.7 billion.
